OBJECTIVES

  • To assess the magnitude of the practise of early and/or forced marriage in Kaijado District, Kenya
  • To acquire a deeper understanding of the consequences of the practice on the girl child’s education
  • To develop new innovative ideas to help alleviate the practice

ACTIVITIES

  • Desk study: collecting data from statistical offices, education office
  • In depth interviews with key persons (government representatives such as chiefs and social workers in the district)
  • Focus group discussions with youth (schoolgirls & boys) and their mothers
